There are essentially two different kinds of tummy tucks which are termed abdominoplasty, and the first is a mini abdominoplasty and that is an operation that involves contouring of the lower abdomen. Many women will have had children and they have a lot of stretch in their lower abdomen, and by simply taking out the extra skin in the lower abdomen and then minimizing the scar so it lies right above the pubic hairline will allow the patient to have an excellent outcome, and then that’s often combined with liposuction of the abdomen. So you can really create a waistline and then give them a nice flat tummy from the mini abdominoplasty.

Well let me say first that I love liposuction because I love art, I love sculpture, and liposuction truly is sculpting the body. And the result is immediate, so it’s very satisfying. Now the areas most commonly addressed are the thighs, the abdomen, the hips, the flank areas, sometimes the outer side of the chest combining that with a breast reduction, and then of course the neck. Oftentimes I will combine neck liposuction at the time of facial contouring surgery.

There are so many health benefits from breast reduction, in fact most patients when they have a breast reduction and they see their result and they feel how light they are now with the smaller breasts they say, why didn’t I do this years ago? And a lot of times it does take a while to make that decision. But what leads them to the office is the symptoms that they have. You know, the back pain, the neck pain, the shoulder grooving from the weight of the breasts, the rashes that they suffer from the breasts being enlarged. And so again as I discussed with breast lift, this operation is designed in such a way as to minimize the scars and to hide the scars within natural shadows of the breast itself.

Breast lifts are important to discuss with patients in terms of the way I design the operation to minimize the scars, and I try to hide the scars within natural shadows of the breasts such as in the areola and along the fold of the breast so that it’s not picked up by the eye.

I think breast augmentation is an amazing operation because it produces an immediate result, however that result is going to be seen. And so in my opinion and I think in most women’s opinion they don’t want that result to be seen coming at them before you see the person. In other words you don’t want to see the breasts before you see the person. Most women these days want breasts that look natural, they want a return of a shape that many of them once had but things have changed in terms of what’s happened to their body as a result of pregnancy or perhaps weight gain and weight loss. And so they’re seeking a breast and I want to produce a breast that looks full and has cleavage, has a nice outer shape to it in terms of the fold of the breast as it meets the arm or the outer chest region. And then also that it has fullness on top but isn’t popping out. And there are various techniques that I use to accomplish this end result.

Muir Computer Imaging is a very exciting part of our consultation process, and what it involves is actually taking the patient’s picture, altering it on the computer, and then having the patient preview that anticipated outcome. And then it gives an opportunity for us to communicate, see if the patient likes that kind of outcome, see if they accept the change, and then ultimately they have a better idea as to whether or not they want to go through with this surgery.

The consultations are so much fun. I mean it’s great to have new people come in here, and my goal is to educate them, also to make them very comfortable, because many of them have a great fear about coming in to see a plastic surgeon. And so the consultation process involves of course meeting my staff and then having their photographs taken, they’re then interviewed by me and I am a real doctor during the consultation, I mean I actually take history, I do an examination, we make diagnoses as to what the problem areas that they’re concerned about, and then we make a plan and this plan may contain various options, there’s not one thing always that’s right for the person, so they have to know what their options are and then of course what the consequences of each of those options are in terms of risks and benefits, recovery time, and then of course their final outcome. And the ultimate is that each patient that considers the procedure have a happy outcome, that’s the bottom line.

Spabella I think is unique because it completes what I call the circle of beauty which is that a patient comes in and they have concerns about their image, and they might not be ready to go right to the operating room. So we have all of the services here to help them prepare to get ready. Also there’s many patients nowadays that don’t even want to think about the knife, they want to actually just help preserve what they have, they want a natural look. So we have all of the services here to help them take care of their skin and make sure it looks their best in an very natural way and when they’re ready for surgery we’re also here so we have a complete circle of services.

My staff are vital to my practice. I could not survive without them. And what I learned in developing my practice, that you can develop a great physical space, have a beautiful Bella environment, however if you don’t have the personnel that can portray your philosophies then you won’t be successful. And I’ve been very fortunate over the years to have acquired a highly trained and professional staff that can be me at all times.
My name is Roberta Pulin and I work for Dr. Petti in the capacity of surgery coordinator. I prepare the patients for surgery, make sure they get all of their medical tests done that they need, and that their surgery may be performed in a safe way, and answer any questions that they have, just work with them very closely once they’ve scheduled surgery.
Well I’m Sandra Turner, I’m one of Dr. Petti’s patient coordinators, I also do massage therapy here along with consult with patients and take care of Dr. Petti and her practice.
Hi I’m Lynette and I’m Dr. Petti’s director of nursing. I worked with Dr. Petti for over the past 10 years. I’m the director of this surgery center plus I work with Dr. Petti when she’s doing treatments, seeing her post op patients with her along with some other nurses in our practice, and doing treatments under her guidance for her patients and surgery.
I think the most rewarding part about working here is that Dr. Petti is so good at what she does, it’s actually very easy to work here. I can say to a patient how good she is and I don’t say that because I work here, I work here because I can say that.

The qualities that you should look for in a cosmetic surgeon are outstanding surgical skills, that’s #1. #2 is a compulsion for detail and that’s something that all good cosmetic surgeons possess that quality. And then you get to the foundation which is the person’s background in terms of their training and being trained by top notch professors in a top notch plastic surgery program I think is important. For me personally I also think that having a general surgery background is also very significant because in general surgery you learn to take care of patients that have multiple problems all over the body inside and out, and having that as a foundation I think makes you a better plastic surgeon overall in terms of patient safety and diagnosis.
