This 66-year-old female patient was referred to Dr. Petti’s office to discuss breast implant removal and replacement. She had subpectoral silicone gel implants that had been in place for more than 30 years.

The patient presented with increased breast pain, firmness, and changes in the shape and size of both breasts. A mammogram was performed as part of her evaluation, which showed evidence of a rupture of the left breast implant.

After discussing her options with Dr. Petti, the patient decided to proceed with revision breast augmentation. During surgery, the implant pocket was changed from subpectoral (under the muscle) to submammary (above the muscle). A new submammary pocket was created, and revisional augmentation was performed using 330 cc Allergan Inspira SCM, round, smooth silicone gel implants.
